Patient information

Before you visit.

A practical guide to gathering information, preparing questions and supporting someone during a hospital visit.

01 / Preparation

Keep the essentials together.

Before travelling, confirm any specific requirements directly with the hospital. The suggestions below are general preparation guidance, not a list of Kira Hospital's admission requirements.

Relevant documents: gather previous medical reports, referral documents or test results that may help explain your situation.
Your medicine list: note the medicines you currently take, including doses if known, and any allergies you need to discuss.
Your questions: write a short list so the most important points are easy to remember.
Practical arrangements: check what identification or other documents may be needed, and plan your journey before setting out.

02 / Appointment questions

Know what to ask.

Before making plans, ask the hospital to confirm whether the care you need is available and how to arrange it. An online enquiry is not an appointment.

Which service or point of contact is appropriate for my question?
Is an appointment or referral needed, and how is it arranged?
What date, arrival time and location should I confirm?
What costs and payment arrangements should I ask about beforehand?
Are there documents or preparation instructions I need to follow?

Do not change medicines or follow preparation restrictions based on this website. Ask a qualified healthcare professional for instructions relevant to your care.

Record an appointment question

03 / Supporting someone

Plan your visit together.

If you are accompanying a patient, discuss what support they would like and respect their privacy. Check arrangements directly rather than assuming a companion can attend every part of a visit.

Ask about visiting arrangements and whether a companion can be present.
Check accessibility needs and what assistance can be arranged before travelling.
Ask about language or communication support if needed.
With the patient's agreement, help keep questions and important documents together.

04 / Urgent situations

Do not wait for an online response.

If you need urgent medical help, seek immediate local medical assistance. Do not use the enquiry form for emergencies or time-sensitive health concerns.

This guide offers general preparation information. It cannot assess symptoms, provide a diagnosis or replace medical advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
